In this journal club, a research paper was selected by a senior faculty to be discussed and presented and two groups of students. The research paper selected was “Berberine is a novel cholesterol-lowering drug working through a unique mechanism distinct from statins.” by Kong, Weijia, et al. One group of students defended the findings of the study, the other highlighted the shortcoming in the study. It was a healthy activity and it encouraged the students to be curious and question old findings in order to come up with newer better ones
