Introduction

The department of Clinical Psychology (DCP) is a constituent unit of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU – a federally chartered university) and has the unique distinction of being attached/affiliated with state of the art and JCI accreditated Shifa International Hospitals, Islamabad for clinical attachment, clinical clerkships, training(s) and other related academic activities. It is located in the heart of Islamabad; the beautiful capital of Pakistan. It is positioned to become an innovative center focused on Clinical aspects of Psychology and health that will bring education, counselling treatment, and research together.

BS-CP is the first such program being offered which will help to fulfill the urgent demand for more graduate trained clinical psychologists across the country, taking into consideration the growth, development and awareness of clinical psychology during the last few years particularly in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The aim of this education at DCP (STMU) is to educate and train healthcare professionals who have the knowledge and expertise to fulfill their roles both in the health care and beyond.

The BS-CP program takes an integrated approach to learning across the curriculum. Self-grooming and enhancement is given a lot of importance in the institution. The courses that would be studied during BS-CP will enhance the knowledge and skills to the next level. The study programs and courses have been designed as to fulfill the current needs with regard to professionalism, marketability, employability, and entrepreneurship.

Our objective is to provide the highest quality teaching and learning and undertake research that is relevant to patients and health care practice, and development of the society as a whole. We seek students who are committed to making a difference in people’s lives through the discovery, design, delivery and rational use of psychology tools.
