Associate of Science in Computer Science

Brief Introduction of the Program.

The Shifa School of Computing plans to offer Associate of Science in Computer Science. The duration of the program is two years and is equivalent to 14 years of education. Because the Computer Science domain is dynamic in nature, most organizations turn to automation to meet 21st century requirements. The program’s primary goal is to train students in the different domains of computer sciences so that they can understand all technical knowledge and gain hands-on experience with all computer science fundamentals. During the course of this study program, students will learn the fundamental skills required to create software systems, databases, websites, and computer networks. This knowledge and learning will help students to expand their horizons by getting equipped with the necessary skills to excel professionally Many students will benefit from these skills when looking for jobs.

Objectives of the Program.

The objectives of Associate of Science in Computer Science are given below:

  • To improve or enhance students programming skills by familiarizing with variety of programming languages, tools, paradigms, and technologies.
  • To enhance student’s analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Allow students with technical skills to make a valuable contribution to the software industry.
  • To give students a mix of knowledge, hands-on experience, and theory applied in different real world problems.

Scope/Need of the Program (especially with regard to need of the society/community and employment perspective).

Computer science domain leads towards a wide range of careers. These careers require fundamental computer science skills. One of the primary goals of the Associate of Science in Computer Science is to prepare graduates for such Computer Science knowledge which they could apply directly in the real situations or could be able to build new knowledge on the learned knowledge. This program includes analysis, design, implementation, and application of what can be automated. It arises due to huge information revolution, which made it so difficult to live without computers. The program focuses on programming skills in various paradigms, such as operating systems, networking, and databases. In this program student will get practical exposure on different software systems and languages such as C, C++, JAVA, Visual Programming languages, Unix, Windows, and network tools. The primary goal of this program is to provide graduates having strong information technology knowledge that will allow them to increase career opportunities in Computer Science domain. This short degree provides highly sought-after skills, which increases the chances of getting a job in software industry.
