Prof. Dr. Khaled Khalaf

Professor Khalaf has been in clinical academia in the field of Orthodontics for over 25 years, working in different countries, but predominantly in the UK. He completed his PhD in 2002 from the University of Sheffield, UK and was awarded Membership in Orthodontics of both the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, UK and a Fellowship in Dental Surgery (Orthodontics) of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Moreover, he has completed a formal post-CCST clinical academic training programme and the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination (ISFE) in Orthodontics followed by the attainment of a “Fellowship in Orthodontics” of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, UK and accreditation as a Consultant Orthodontist in the UK. Furthermore, he has completed a formal training in Higher Education which led to the award of a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, UK and was further awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Trainers, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as a recognition of his significant contribution and involvement in Higher Clinical Training. His research interests include hypodontia; consumer-based orthodontic treatment need and outcome; 3D imaging in orthodontics; evidence-based orthodontics (RCTs, systematic reviews and meta-analyses); medical/dental education research. He has many publications in prestigious international journals. He is a reviewer and serves on the editorial board of several international journals. He has also presented many papers in renowned international conferences.

Prof. Dr. Syed Ali Khurram

Dr. Ali Khurram graduated from de’Montmorency College of Dentistry in 20021. He obtained a Masters in Experimental Oral Pathology from Queen Mary, University of London in 2003, followed by a PhD from University of Sheffield (2004-2008). At present, he is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant Pathologist at the University of Sheffield, UK. His postdoctoral training was funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), UK as a part of which he also trained as a Diagnostic Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist. He is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK, Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Pathologists, UK. He is the Clinical Lead for the Diagnostic Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Service and the Academic Lead for undergraduate BDS Pathology Teaching at Sheffield. He is also an active researcher with a grant portfolio of over £1.3million and a large number of publications in high impact factor journals
