Shifa College of Dentistry offers a four-year Bachelor of Dentistry (BDS) program. The college has the capacity to admit up to 50 students annually from Pakistan and abroad. Admission on all seats is based on merit without discrimination of gender, color, creed, race, religion or domicile. 15% of the total seats will be reserved for foreign category as per PM&DC guidelines.

Following are the details of BDS admission for session 2023-2024 at Shifa College of Dentistry:

1. Academic Requirements for BDS

Keeping in view of the different education system, the minimum academic requirements for admission eligibility in BDS program is defined follows:

Pakistani System of Education

  1. Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) in pre-medical group with a minimum aggregate of 60%.
  2. Have passed the MDCAT examination. (50% marks for BDS)

Foreign System of Education

  1. Obtained a Higher Secondary School Certificate qualification (HSSC) or an equivalent 12th grade qualification recognized in Pakistan and obtained a minimum of 60% marks.
  2. Passed the subjects of biology and chemistry and either physics or mathematics in the examination of the Higher Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent 12th grade qualification recognized in Pakistan.
  3. Have passed the MDCAT examination. (50% marks for BDS)

2. Obtaining an Equivalence Certificate

Candidates following systems of education other than Pakistani Higher Secondary Certificate [premedical/ humanities group (bio, chem and math)] must obtain attested IBCC Equivalence certificate having a QR code from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC). The equivalence certificate should verify that the candidate’s High School qualification is equivalent to a High School qualification in Pakistan with a minimum aggregate achievement of 60%. 3. Online Registration for Admission

  1. All applications for admission would be submitted ONLINE through STMU Admission Portal. Please note that all students would need an email address to register and apply to the Online Admission System.
  2. Candidates will be required to upload all mandatory documents on the Online Admission Portal (which includes CNIC, photographs, educational certificates, official MDCAT result and etc.), as per the given instructions.
  • An Application Fee of 2000/- will be paid as per the details mentioned on the voucher. The proof of paid challan will be uploaded over the portal. This is the mandatory step for the final submission of Online Application. The application fee is non-refundable. (Candidates must ensure eligibility before applying).

NOTE: Candidates are requested to ensure they meet application eligibility requirements before applying. The College reserves the right to admission; to revoke admission and registration if an application is discovered to be inaccurate or incomplete, or if supporting documents are discovered to be fraudulent. Any candidate who presents a fraudulent document in support of an application for admission may be identified to other universities and colleges.

4. Admission on Foreign Seat

As per PM&DC rule, 15% seats are allocated for Foreign / Overseas students. Eligibility criteria is as follows:

  1. The student is only eligible to apply on foreign seats if he/she holds a permanent foreign nationality OR is an overseas (being Pakistani citizen permanently resident in a foreign county). The student shall have studied and passed HSSC/12th Grade examination or equivalent from outside Pakistan and is resident of Foreign County at the time of applying for admission and possess a certificate from the institution.
  2. Have passed the MDCAT examination (50% marks for BDS) OR qualify SAT-II with minimum score of 550 in each subject or a foreign MCAT examination OR UCAT examination with 50 % marks in the subject of Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Math.

5. Merit Calculation Formula

Merit calculation will be as per PM&DC defined criteria which is as follow:

6. Interview

Interviews with the Faculty of the College is part of the admission process. In person Interview with student & parent on the day of fee submission is Mandatory.

If an interviewer observes any psychiatric issue or special need for daily living / functioning in any candidate during the interview which might affect his/her studies and career in dentistry, the candidate shall be referred to the Medical Board for further evaluation. The final decision will be taken by the Principal of SCD after reviewing the decision of the medical board. Please note that no relaxation will be given on this rule.

7. Fee Structure for BDS Students enrolled in Session 2023-2024 (04 years)

  1. Fee submission through bank draft / pay order within 3 working days of display of merit list.
  2. As per PM&DC guidelines, a student shall have the right to pay the tuition fee on a quarterly, six monthly or annual basis to the college. A student paying the college on a six-monthly basis in advance shall be granted a 2% discount in the tuition fee and a student paying the college on an Annual basis in advance shall be granted a 4% discount in the tuition fee.
  3. The University Examination charges, and Convocation & Degree charges will be charged as per university policy.
  4. Tax will be charged as per the policy of the Government of Pakistan.
  5. Refund of fees & other charges will be according to PM&DC rule. As per PM&DC rule,“A student when accepting admission to a college shall be under an obligation to disclose to the college if a prior admission has been accepted by them to any other college, and such student shall prior to accepting such latter admission must in writing inform the prior college of cancellation of their acceptance with a copy to the designated email of the Authority. Failure by a student to cancel the prior acceptance of admission shall render all admission offers of the student as void and the student shall be ineligible for admission”.

8. Hostel Accommodation

Students desiring hostel accommodation must put in their requests as early as possible to ensure availability of hostel accommodation. College cannot guarantee that everyone will get a place, particularly the latecomers. The fee structure for hostel accommodation is as follows:
