Department of Health Professions Education, Shifa College of Medicine organized an Educational Development Webinar for the month of August 2021 on Aug 28, 2021.  The topic of the webinar was “Measuring Your Impact: Understanding HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS), Citation Analysis, Predatory journals and self-citation”.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Dr. Nazeer Khan, Director QEC STMU, Dr. AbidaShaheen – Professor of Pharmacology – STMU and Dr. Fahad Azam Associate Professor of Pharmacology – STMU.             

 The objectives of the webinar were

1. Interpret the algorithm used by the HEC Journal Recognition System (HJRS)

2. Identify W, X and Y categories of the HJRS

3. Compute commonly used citation metrics

4. Appraise predatory journals and self-citation

Thishybrid activity was conducted online and senior faculty members attended the webinar on-campus observing Covid SOPs. The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr Mohammed Amir gave concluding remarks and explained the importance of citation metrics in the field of research.
