Mr. Sami Ur Rahman

Head, Department of Shariah & Law

Mr. Sami Ur Rahman, joined STMU Park Road Campus, as an Associate Professor and Head, Department of Shariah & Law. Mr. Sami has almost 16 years of experience ranging from litigation to legal advice and academia. He had worked at the University of Faisalabad as Head of Law Department and Associate Professor, Assistant Professor of Law at NUST, Assistant Professor at the Shariah Academy, IIUI, Assistant Professor of Law at Bahria University Islamabad, Legal Advisor at the ICRC Peshawar and litigation lawyer at the Islamabad High Court. He has done his LLB Shariah & Law, LLM in International Law and he is awaiting his PhD Law public defense from the IIU Islamabad. To his credit, he has established 5 departments in different universities across Pakistan. He is an accomplished researcher as he has published 2 books and 21 research articles in HEC recognized journals. He has been awarded with the Pride of Faisalabad Award for the Best Educationist of the Year 2023.

HoD's Message

The Department of Shariah and law has been conducting its academic activities under the faculty of social sciences and humanities as per the provision of the statute of Shifa Tameer –e- Millat University, intending to research and dissemination of knowledge in Shariah Laws and Conventional Laws. The department has already initiated its policy to integrate both Shariah and general laws in order to achieve the goals through its syllabus, curriculum, and teaching strategies.

The Department of Shariah and Law is currently running one undergraduate degree program namely LL.B Shariah and law (05-Years). The Department of Shariah & Law is a unique center of learning that provides quality education under the supervision of highly qualified teachers. The Department provides a good academic environment where students can pursue their studies under the supervision of well-qualified, dynamic, and research-oriented scholars.

The Program is considered a unique program combining modernity and tradition as it reconciles knowledge and skills, a matter which will graduate students who combine scientific competence, good perception of matters and facts and improve their ability to develop and the quality of deriving the targeted judgments. In addition, the program will help graduate moderate, productive, and qualified students ready to work in both private and public sectors such as judiciary or advocacy, general prosecution, investigation bureau, or university education.

The department also holds a rich library with local and international books, scripts, and other reading materials. As part of our designed curriculum, the students of final semesters will be exposed to court visits which include visits to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, High courts, and Lower courts. Besides the foregone, the department also annually will arrange visits to the parliament (National Assembly and Senate) of Pakistan and other relevant institutions.
