We are pleased to share that in November 2023, 22 MSN students defended their theses successfully. The process involved ten internal and two external examiners. The internal examiners were from various entities of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University including Clinical Psychology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Medicine. The external examiners were from the University of Jordan and Barry University, Florida.
The research areas of the MSN thesis have significantly contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Nursing Education and Practice. MSN students of clinical track have delved into a diverse range of topics related to nursing practice concerning patients or their family care issues, such as pressure ulcers, intimate care to patients of the opposite gender, palliative care, newborn care, congenital heart defects, handling of cytotoxic drugs, insulin self-administration, the level of empathy, and telehealth nursing. Whereas students in the education track focused their inquiry on pedagogical issues as well as teaching and learning strategies, such as verbal feedback in a clinical setting, one-minute preceptorship, low dose high-frequency triage education, application of questioning skills, factors affecting clinical teaching, role preparedness of principals, and cultural competence of nurse educators. Pertinent to the level of inquiry, qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches were employed to address these topics. Quantitative studies ranged from descriptive to interventional designs.
The Shifa College of Nursing proudly recognizes students’ devotion and intellectual achievements, as well as the faculty of STMU, whose excellent advice and unwavering support played a critical role in making this achievement possible.
