Ethics of the seekers of Knowledge – Guest lecture
To motivate the recently enrolled students in 1st Year MBBS regarding the importance of learning about medicine alongside the knowledge of religion, Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf, in collaboration with Dr Sajida Naseem, hosted a talk by the renowned scholar Mufti Tauqeer Sheikh. He is known nationally and on the international forum for his philanthropic work, and religious talks take place in many countries worldwide.
He was gracious enough to spare some time from his busy schedule to come to SCM and engage the students in a motivational talk. He shared his life experiences and correlated them with problems every student and individual faces. He emphasised the need to balance academic and religious studies, as an academic study is for this life, and religious study is for the hereafter. Not only that, talk on religion and life also nourished one’s soul, cleansing it from the poisons of modern social media. He also elaborated on his own life story and how he transitioned to this way of life.
The students were deeply invested in his talk and wanted to inquire more about his life and what led to him choosing this pathway.
Closing remarks were given by Professor Dr Ashraf, reiterating the importance of such talks on religion and life, especially for those students who are going to be the future flag-bearers of our country. Prof. Dr Ashraf also thanked Mufti Tauqeer Sheikh for his valuable time and hoped to have him come again to share more insight into life and religion.
The students welcomed this talk and were optimistic about listening to more conversations like this by notable personalities in the future.
