March 29, 2024
The first-ever “Student’s Week” closing ceremony was held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, to encourage all the winners and organizers for their magnificent performances. Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak was the lead of the closing ceremony under the supervision of Prof Dr. Ashraf Hussain. Dr. Sadia Syed steered the student’s week as co-chairperson of the “Liaison Committee”. The session was attended by many esteemed faculty members along with the students. Moiz Bajwa and Zarbab Ali Khan’s passionate hosting made it a great feat. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Moiz Bajwa. The opening remarks by Prof Dr. Ashraf Hussain were very inspiring and vitalizing. He focused on learning and working in team-based activities and conflict management among the students during the different activities of this week. After that, a mesmerizing video showing glimpses of all the events of the student’s week caught the audience’s attention and was much cherished. Dr. Sadia Syed’s splendid poetry followed this. She paid tribute to the students on behalf of the faculty by reciting her poem titled “Deewar e Shifa.” The poem serves as an ode to the campus walls painted by the students, symbolizing these walls as guardians and protectors of cherished norms and values. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of ensuring that walls shall not be built between hearts; rather, they shall surround individuals as a hallmark of security. The certificate distribution was carried out with great zeal and enthusiasm by the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Iqbal Khan, and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof Dr. Muhammed Amir. It was really fascinating that all the senior faculty of Shifa College of Medicine participated in the certificate distribution. Applause and hoots echoed in the hall as the winners of each competition were given their respective certificates. The president, vice presidents, and volunteers were also awarded certificates for their efforts. The winning team also received certificates for the Faculty Quiz, an innovative event. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the students for their dedication and hard work. He felt pride in congratulating all the presidents and vice presidents for organising spectacular events and all the students for their active participation. The event ended with a recitation of Surah Asr by the Dean.
