As part of Independence Day celebrations at Shifa college of Medicine, a guest lecture on “Ideology of Pakistan” was conducted for students of first year MBBS, on Tuesday August 13, 2024.  The lecture was organized by Dr Umme Kulsoom Khattak in longitudinal theme of Pakistan Studies in consultation with Prof Dr Ashraf Hussain. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Abdullah is an accomplished academic scholar and researcher with a PhD in Islamic Studies with specialization in Comparative Study of Religions, from the University of the Punjab. He is an HEC Approved PhD Supervisor.  He has the prestige of being awarded with Presidential Award and Dr. Allama Iqbal Appreciation Award. He has represented Pakistan internationally, presenting research at conferences in Turkey, Bangladesh, and Taiwan. His lecture provided students with a deep understanding of the ideological foundations upon which Pakistan was established. He emphasized the role of Islam as the core guiding principle in the creation of Pakistan, reflecting the desire for a homeland where Muslims could freely practice their faith and live according to Islamic values. He enthusiastically discussed how the ideology of Pakistan was rooted in the vision of a two-nation theory that not only protected the religious and cultural rights of Muslims but also promoted justice, equality, and social harmony. The lecture connected these principles to the broader struggle for independence, illustrating the quest for a separate nation that was intertwined by Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. The lecture ended with closing remarks of Prof Dr Ashraf Hussain. He underscored that ideology of Pakistan is not just a historical concept but a living vision that continues to shape the future of our country. Students were encouraged to take pride in this heritage and to strive towards building a society that reflects the ideals of peace, compassion, and equality as envisioned by the founders of Pakistan.
