Visit to the Blood Bank, SIH

On August 10, 2023, students of the Class of 2027 visited the blood bank at Shifa International Hospital in the HLS module. This visit aimed to familiarize undergraduate students with the importance of blood donation and the process of blood transfusion. Students were informed about the requirements for blood donation, assortment, storage and its issuance before transfusion. They were shown the section on blood donation. The process of centrifugation was explained. Likewise, the significance of record-keeping of blood contributors was highlighted.

Students asked many questions about the blood donation and transfusion process, addressing the focal person. Students found this visit helpful and motivational. The visit was coordinated by the Department of Community Medicine, SCM.
