The students of the Class of 2026 visited Rural Health Centre (RHC) Tarlai, located on the outskirts of Islamabad, in two batches on 29th and 30th March 2022.
The Department of Community Medicine organized this visit to familiarize students with the Primary Health Care Centre’s working in the semi-urban setting of Islamabad. It was supervised by Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak, Assistant Professor and coordinated by Ms. Sana Mangrio, Social Medical Officer.
Dr. Sadia first gave an overview of the working of RHC, followed by visits in small groups to different sections of the RHC facility. It included a COVID-19 vaccination, EPI vaccination and storage, TB dots and registration rooms. The students also visited the laboratory, outpatient clinic and dispensary.
Dr. Sadia also showed the recent introduction of digitalization at the facility for patient registration in collaboration with the World Health Organization to the students.
The students took great interest in the visit, and the RHC team answered their questions. This community visit will help them better understand the working of Primary Health Care in Pakistan.
