As part of Community Oriented Medical Education, the Department of Community Medicine visited the Rural Health Center (RHC) to help students understand the working of Pakistan’s healthcare delivery system.
Students of the Class of 2025, divided into two batches, visited RHC in Tarlai, located on the outskirts of Islamabad, on April 17 and 18, 2022, along with the faculty of Community Medicine.
At the RHC, students visited different sections of the centre, including the Covid-19 vaccination centre, Tuberculosis Clinic, Expanded Program on Immunization, Gynecology/Obstetrics unit, laboratory and OPD clinic. They were shown the medicines available in the Dispensary. They were also introduced to the working of digitalized reception.
Students actively participated during the visit, and the RHC staff answered their questions. This trip proved beneficial for students in understanding Pakistan’s health system.
