As part of community health sciences clerkship, year 4 MBBS students visited Rural Health Center (RHC) Tarlai on January 22, 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak.
The objective of this visit was to familiarize students with the working of primary health care center in the semi-urban setting of Islamabad. The students were first introduced to the facility and its different sections. They were then taken to the Tuberculosis (TB) clinic where patients were being screened for TB. Later on, they observed the vaccines being administered to children under the Expanded programme on Immunization. The students were also shown the dispensary and the different medicines available. Afterwards, they were taken to the gynecological ward where they met the lady medical officer Dr. Sadia who explained the perinatal care being provided and the role of lady health workers in improving maternal health.
