In line with the national plantation drive, STMU contributed to this cause by planting 150 fruit trees saplings by undergraduate medical students of Year 1 and 4, under supervision of Department of Community Medicine, Shifa College of Medicine. SCM students contributed generously for procurement of these fruit tree saplings.
The plantation drive was carried out at Kachnar Park, Sector I-8, Islamabad with the collaboration of CDA Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad. It was inaugurated by the Chancellor STMU Dr Manzoor A Qazi. The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, Dean SCM Prof. Dr. Muhammed Amir, Chairperson CHS Dr. Muneer A. Malik, Dean SCPS Prof. Tauseef Rajput, Dean SCD Prof Dr. Anwar Ali Shah and faculty members along with administrative and supportive staff. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal emphasized on the need to connect people to nature through plantation and to share responsibility in this national cause to build a sustainable future. He also suggested that all university students should plant a certain number of trees before they graduate
