Shifa College of Medicine participates in Shifa Foundation’s Tree Plantation Initiative at Malpur

Through the coordination of the Community Medicine Department Year 1 MBBS students participated enthusiastically in a tree plantation initiative by Shifa Foundation which was held at the Model Forestry Park, Malpur on October 5, 2023. A large number of renowned universities of Islamabad including NUST, NUML, Air University, Bahria University, Foundation University, and Quaid-e-Azam University united under the banner of eco-awareness in this activity, which was a remarkable display of unity in pursuit of a common cause: “Environmental Conservation”.

The event commenced with a walk aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of tree plantation and environmental protection. Students from SCM and SCD took the initiative to lead the walk, advocating the importance of nurturing green spaces and mitigating climate change. Each student contributed by planting 2 trees, which were subsequently watered to ensure successful growth.  

The Model Forestry Park Malpur plantation was a successful demonstration of unity among educational institutions. The importance of such events cannot be overstated. These are crucial steps to foster a sense of responsibility towards the environment and inspire future generations to be mindful of their ecological footprint. Shifa College of Medicine remains steadfast in its commitment to actively participate in events that promote community awareness about the environment.
