A session on “Radicalization in Youth” was conducted at Shifa College of Medicine on January 21, 2020. This session was organized by Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak who is the Team Lead of the longitudinal theme of Pakistan Studies. The session was delivered by guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Arshi Saleem Hashmi. Dr Arshi is currently heading the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at National Defence University, Islamabad. She has been an Academic Fellow at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies at the University of Oxford. She has also been a South Asia Leadership Fellow for Counter Terrorism Studies at Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Yale World Fellow at Yale University, USA and Rotary International Peace Fellow.
Dr. Arshi elaborated the causes of youth extremism in Pakistan and gave guidelines to students to fight extremism and remain at peace. The session was highly professional and academic. The students perceived the session very positively.
