Shifa College of Medicine arranged a session on “Ideology of Pakistan”, during “Essentials of Medicine” Module, for the first-year students. It was held under the theme of Pakistan studies on January 27, 2020. Dr Muhammad Waqas Rabbani, Assistant Professor Behavioural Sciences, Shifa College of Medicine, collaborated with module director for the arrangement of this session. The Guest speaker was Barrister Muhammad Danish Javed. He is a practising lawyer in Pakistan and an active member of Bar. Mr. Danish is also the General Secretary for a social welfare body, ‘The Lawyers’ Movement for the Solidarity of Pakistan’. He completed his Bar at Law in the United Kingdom, where he also obtained qualification of a qualified ‘Accredited Mediator’ besides doing his LLM in International Human Rights. While in the UK, he also conducted charity work with the BBC and local Councils to bring people of all faiths, caste, colour and creed together under the flag of humanity. In Pakistan, he also runs a community centre in Lahore to facilitate and help the poor & deserving.
Mr Danish gave a brief introduction on how the idea of Pakistan flourished. Later he focused his talk on what youth can do to revive the spirit of patriotism. The session was interactive and was delivered professionally. He also suggested small steps, which everyone should take to incorporate a sense of social justice and responsibility in society.
