A farewell to our legendary Professor Dr. Syed Qamar Alam (Professor of Biochemistry) was arranged on 11 Jan 2019. The event was hosted by our worthy Principal, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir and Department of Biochemistry. The Biochemistry Research Lab was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Syed Qamar Alam and was named after him. He also inaugurated the Prof. Dr. Syed Qamar Alam Library which comprises of all the books and journals donated by the esteemed Professor to Shifa College of Medicine for the faculty and students.

A ceremony was also arranged to pay special tribute to him for his exemplary academic and non-academic services to Shifa College of Medicine and STMU. This was attended by respected Vice Chancellor STMU, Prof Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan, Chairman Shifa international Hospital, Dr. Habib ur Rahman, Controller of Examination, Prof Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, Deans of Pharmacy, Dr. Tauseef Rajpoot and faculty of Shifa college of Medicine. The event commenced with tilawat of versus from Holy Quran. The faculty of Shifa college of Medicine paid their tribute through a video message. A presentation on Prof. Dr. Syed Qamar Alam’s life history and achievements was displayed. Special guests were also invited for this auspicious event which included, Dr. Najam, Dr. T A Shah, Dr. Ansari and Dr. Salma who shared their personal and professional experiences with Prof. Dr. Syed Qamar Alam. In the end, Vice Chancellor STMU, Prof Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan and Dean Faculty of health sciences Prof Dr. Mohammad Amir acknowledged Dr. Syed Qamar Alam’s contributions to STMU and SCM. He will always be recognized as one of the main forces which lead to the development of research culture in the institute. Dr. Syed Qamar Alam was presented with souvenirs from STMU and Department of biochemistry. The ceremony concluded with cake cutting followed by tea.
