Orientation day and white coat ceremony to welcome the Class of 2022 was held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Shifa Greens. The ceremony started with tilawat, followed by national anthem of Pakistan. Students were provided with white coats at the start of the event. They were then sworn into an oath from Dr. Amir Nazir the representative of the Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University to uphold the values of professionalism and integrity throughout their academic career. The students briefly introduced themselves and presented their signed oaths to the principal so that it can be added in their portfolio.

On this occasion, the Professor Dr Mohamad Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of the Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University addressed the students and said that it has been 20 years since Shifa College of Medicine started this journey and has now evolved as one of the best health care institutions of the country. He mentioned that Shifa International Hospital is only the second JCIA certified health care facility in the county and the only facility where multiple organ transplants are being performed. He congratulated the students on being a part of the Shifa family.

Professor Dr. Mohamad Amir, Principal of the Shifa College of Medicine addressed the students along with their parents and the faculty. He paid homage to Dr. Zaheer Ahmed and Dr. Muhammed Amin. In his address, he mentioned that studying medicine requires life-long commitment for learning. He said that SCM follows an integrated system based modular curriculum where the different system of the body are taught in an integrated way with clinical context. He also mentioned that curriculum at SCM has just been revamped this year in line with the new trends in medical education.
