The students of the class of 2025 visited the “Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Developmental Disorders”, located in sector H-8/4, Islamabad. It is a government-run organisation that provides free education for children with special needs.

The Department of Community Medicine in the Neurosciences module organised the visit on 11th and 15th August 2022. The medical students were briefed by the organisation’s director about their objectives, facilities and activities.

The medical students were then taken to the autism unit, early developmental unit, soundproof and soft rooms, gymnasium, and different classrooms according to special children’s developmental needs. They were explained about the working of the organisation, and the faculty answered queries at the centre. The medical students also interacted with special children and said this would help them develop empathy and inclusivity.
