Kahoot! Quiz in Special Senses Module (Year – II)
A formative quiz was conducted in the Special Senses Module (Year – II) on the 31st of August 2022 at Shifa College of Medicine. This activity was organized by the Module Director Dr. Hira Moin, and the members of Team – II. All the MBBS Class of 2025 students participated in the quiz. It was conducted on “Kahoot!” – a students’ response system.
Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that can be used to carry out quizzes to help students learn by making the information engaging in a fun way. It can be used to review students’ knowledge, for formative assessment, or as a break from traditional classroom activities.
The whole class was divided into 27 teams with 3-4 students in each team. There were three preliminary rounds, with nine teams participating in each round. Top 3 teams in each round qualified for the final round of the quiz.
After this activity, the Winner, 1st, and 2nd-runner-up teams were awarded certificates and medals. Professor Dr. Mohammad Amir (Principal/ Dean Shifa College of Medicine) and Professor Dr. Riffat Shafi (Department Head, Physiology) honoured us with their presence at the prize distribution ceremony.
Students of the Class of 2025 enthusiastically participated in this quiz competition. They welcomed the use of the digital platform Kahoot! for this activity. This integration of technology in our teaching environment for formative assessment fostered students’ engagement and motivation. Notably, the use of gamification elements positively impacted the classroom learning environment.
In the future, we intend to incorporate technology in our teaching further to facilitate learning, achieve new levels of productivity, and create an inclusive and collaborative learning environment for all students, ensuring academic excellence.
