Diabetes Prevention Through Lifestyle Modification

On May 29, 2025, the Department of Health Professions Education (DHPE) at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University organized an informative session titled: ‘Diabetes Prevention Through Lifestyle Modification’ in collaboration with The Diabetes Centre (TDC) for faculty and students. The session aimed to raise awareness about diabetes management and prevention. The session featured speakers, including Dr. Farah Khan and Dr. Nuzhat Hameed from the diabetic center and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Shifa College of Medicine. An overview of TDC’s comprehensive care services for diabetic patients was provided, epidemiology and complications associated with diabetes were discussed, and strategies for prevention and early detection were emphasized. In addition to the educational session, TDC conducted a free on-campus health screening camp as part of their “Hospital on Wheels” initiative. The camp offered services such as BMI checks, blood pressure measurements, blood sugar testing, and nutrition consultations, benefiting both faculty and students
