Community Rotation Visit to Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR)

As a part of Community Medicine and Public Health Community Rotation, third year medical students’ class 2027 visited the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) on April 16, 2025. PCRWR is an apex research body at National level that is mandated to conduct, coordinate and promote research on all aspects of water resources including soil reclamation, irrigation (ground and surface), drinking and waste water. Objective of the visit was to identify the key water resource challenges in Pakistan and climate smart methods for water conservation. The students were briefed about the functions of PCRWR along with a tour of the Water Quality Monitoring Labs that are responsible for nationwide quality monitoring of drinking water in Pakistan. Furthermore, PCRWR is also actively involved in monitoring quality of Bottled water brands. Students were shown to climate smart ways of conserving and reusing water through Rainwater Harvesting system and Ground Water recharge techniques. The students expressed interest in the innovative technologies exhibited by PCRWR for water conservation.
