As part of Pakistan Independence Day celebrations, a tree plantation drive was organized at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Developmental Disorder (RCCD) in H-8/4 Islamabad. The event was spearheaded by Dr Sajida Naseem and faculty of Department of Community Medicine from Shifa College of Medicine. The tree plantation drive featured the planting of Neem and Orange trees: symbolizing growth, hope, and nurturing of a sustainable environment. What made this activity truly special was the inclusion of children with developmental disorders, who actively participated along with medical students. The faculty of Community Medicine Department with their warm and encouraging presence, guided both the undergraduate medical students and children of RCCD through the planting process. This tree plantation activity provided an invaluable opportunity for the medical students to interact with children with special needs, promoting empathy, understanding and a sense of responsibility towards community service.
