A 4-day Training on Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy Held by Department of Clinical Psychology

The Department of Clinical Psychology, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University has organized a 4-day Training on Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy in collaboration with the Khalil Center of the United States. Professional Psychologists and academicians from all over Pakistan participated in the training. Two internationally trained and practicing clinical psychologists from Khalil Center Dr. Hooman Keshavarzi and Dr. Fahad Khan conducted several insightful sessions on the indigenous models of psychotherapy that blend our Islamic virtues with our clinical practices.             The chief guest of the event and the Vice Chancellor of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal khan stressed on the essence of international collaborations. He also suggested to plan and conduct a 6-month certified course on Islamic Psychotherapy in near future. The training was a part of a series of international collaborations by a well-known academician and psychologist, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Dean faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, STMU. The chief organizer and focal person of the training Dr. Mohib Rehman shared the future proposals of STMU with the participants that will help psychologists, mental health practitioners, and academicians to serve their community in more effective ways. A vote of thanks was made by HOD of Department of Clinical Psychology, Dr. Tamkeen Saleem, in which she asserted that new interdisciplinary projects, researches, publications would be initiated to generate evidence-based literature for Islamic Perspectives in Psychology.
