Though Pakistan is one of the lowest contributors to carbon emissions and pollution, it has been subject to the worst floods and other natural disasters in its history. To raise awareness for climate change and swift policy-making, his excellency, the ambassador to UAE, organised a marathon in the red zone of Islamabad on Saturday, Feb 25, 2023.
Notable personalities from all aspects of life, including government officials, ambassadors and public figures, actively participated in the activity. Students and faculty of various colleges were also invited to participate in this marathon. Children from SOS Village and Members of Red Crescent Pakistan also actively participated.
Students of various departments of STMU, including students of Year-3 MBBS, students of BDS, MLT, DPT and Audiology, took part with the utmost zeal and enthusiasm. They were willing to help the participants in terms of first aid and ran the entire course of 10 km to show their full support for the cause.
All participants were provided with food and water. The marathon was followed by a medal distribution to all the participants that completed the marathon, and a certificate of appreciation was distributed to the participants.
His excellency, the ambassador to UAE, was thankful to everyone who participated and made the event successful.
Honourable Principal, Prof. Dr Muhammed Amir, also congratulated the students who participated in the event and encouraged students to take part in such physical activities. In true sportsmanship, students donated the medals to the children of SOS village they had met during the marathon.
