The Iqbal Day was celebrated at Shifa College of Medicine, STMU, on Nov 11, 2022. Students of the Class of 2024 actively participated in the event, and the senior faculty of Basic Sciences graced it with their presence.
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Zuraiz Nasir, and Dr Sajida Naseem, acting head of Community Medicine, gave opening remarks about the life of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal. Dr Iqbal was a philosopher and a lawyer by qualification. For his unrivalled contribution to the creation of Pakistan, he received the status of National Poet.
A few of the revolutionary poems of Dr Iqal were recited after the opening remarks, namely, “Zindagee” by Abdul Moeed Hameed, “Ghaflat” by Ilsa Hunia Zahra, “Shikwa and Jawab -e- Shikwa” by Areej Alvi, and “Duaai Qalmaat” by Muhammad Ali Hassan. All the presenters narrated these with the utmost zeal and enthusiasm, which captivated the audience. The last narration was “Laab Pei Aatee Hai Dua” by Huda Asif, in which faculty and students participated vehemently.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from Prof. Dr Riffat Shafi, head of the Physiology and Medical Education Department. She emphasized the importance of “Kalaam-e-Iqbal” in the lives of our youth, who are the future flag-bearers of Pakistan.
