The MBBS Class of 2021 at Shifa College of Medicine took part in a Poster Competition during their Nutrition and Metabolism Module. The module, under the supervision and direction of Dr. Sumreena Mansoor (Course Director N&M) in collaboration with Dr. Sajida Naseem (Assistant Professor Community Medicine) was redesigned this year to better integrate patient centered nutritional requirements in health management. The goal was to deliver the module in a way that it stresses the importance of a healthy diet and how this diet may vary for different groups of individuals in our society. In keeping with this new theme, a poster presentation competition was held amongst the students.

The class was divided into 8 groups. Each group had been assigned a specific case scenario. Based on their assigned case the students, under the mentorship of Dr. Sumreena Mansoor, Dr. Afrose Liaquat and Dr. Sajida Naseem, assessed and presented on the activity level of their patient, total calories required, the number of meals recommended per day, their portion size and the calories per portion. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics from Shifa International Hospital was invited to asses and provide their feedback to the students participating in the competition.
