Department of Medicine
The Medicine department aims to make competent medical graduates that embody good medical practice, who are, lifelong learner, altruistic, empathetic, sensitive, honest, responsible, ethical, and efficient team members. The medicine department has played a principal role in the development and implementation of a system-based integrated curriculum in Shifa College of Medicine. Our team is involved in all steps of curricular integration.
In our junior and senior clerkships, we facilitate our students to acquire fundamental skills, reinforce and expand their knowledge, and develop personally and professionally. During clerkships students are provided with glimpse of multiple specialties, like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Radiology, Emergency Medicine and ICU. Our department provides daily services to the poor and needy patients at Shifa Foundation Community Health Center. The Medicine Outdoor Clinic is the busiest clinic of this center. Furthermore, our team provides medical fitness and health care facilities to students of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University.
We are regularly involved in inter and intradepartmental meetings for curricular innovations and progressions. The faculty and students’ feedback is used for clerkships improvement.
The Medicine department has published more than ten research articles last year. We encourage and facilitate our students in their research activities. We have many ongoing projects at the hospital and multicenter levels.
The department has proved to be a role model since most of our graduate students have opted for Internal Medicine as a career and are serving humanity as medical doctors at both national and international levels.
