Seminar on Impacts of Psycho-Social Disorders on Society

The Pakistan Day Celebration and 25 years of Excellence- Silver Jubilee Shifa College of Medicine was held on 22nd March 2023.  It was organised by Dr Umme Kulsoom, Assistant Professor of Community Medicine and coordinator for Pakistan Studies, under the longitudinal theme of Pakistan Studies. The students of first and third-year MBBS actively participated and attended the session along with the faculty. This celebration was a product of much hard work, practice and ingenuity on behalf of the presenters.

The faculty and respected Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, attended the event. Barrister Muhammad Haris honoured us as the chief guest and keynote speaker. 

The session started with a Recitation from Holy Quran, followed by a beautiful national song.

The Shifa Dramatics Society presented a humorous and poignant play, “Jaal Saaz”, written by Kainat Habib, talking about the current state of the country and all the different forces that take part, and how we all might be the ones weaving the web of our misfortunes.

After that riveting performance, VC Dr Muhammad Iqbal and the Chief guest gave their words of hope, dedication and encouragement.

Debate and declamation competition was the most passionate part, with interesting arguments. Students participated energetically on the stimulating topic: “The Vision of Pakistan: Daydream or Nightmare”. Prof Dr Ashraf, Dr Waqas Rabbani and the chief guest performed the duties of judges for the debates contest. 

Certificates were given to all the debate participants and the first three positions. Maseel Hassan (2027) secured the first position, Dua Sattar (2025) secured 2nd position, and Fahad Amin Khan (2026) secured 3rd Position. The chief guest was presented with a shield. 

Prof Dr Ashraf gave closing remarks, emphasising the importance of hope, unity in diversity and building a future for our dear nation. The event was closed with the singing of the National anthem by all the students and faculty with great love and enthusiasm.
