The Department of Health Professions Education organized an Educational Development
Seminar titled “Reimagining Research Through the Lens of Artificial Intelligence” on
Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at the SCM Campus. The session was facilitated by Dr. Mashaal
Sabqat, Assistant Professor of Medical Education at Islamic International Medical College and
Assistant Director at the Riphah Institute of Assessment (RIA), Riphah International University,
Rawalpindi.
This seminar was designed to enhance faculty capacity in understanding the transformative role
of artificial intelligence in modern research practices. Dr. Mashaal provided an insightful
overview of foundational AI concepts relevant to academic inquiry, including an exploration of
widely accessible AI-powered tools, their functionalities, and the ethical and trust-related
considerations surrounding their use. The session was well-attended by faculty from both basic
and clinical sciences, reflecting interdisciplinary interest in the evolving landscape of AI-assisted
research.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks by the Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, who
commended Dr. Mashaal for her valuable insights and emphasized the importance of ongoing
faculty development in response to the rapidly changing research environment. The event ended
with a reflective Dua, marking the conclusion of an enriching and forward-looking academic
experience.
