Pluralism and Multiculturalism A special session on Pluralism and Multiculturalism was conducted under the longitudinal theme of Pakistan Studies for the MBBS Year 3 students on August 22, 2025. This session was taken by Ms. Humaira Massihuddin, a renowned lawyer, who holds LLM in Public International Law from the University of London, LLB (shariah and law) from the International Islamic University, MA in Cultural Anthropology from University of Pittsburgh USA and an MSC in Criminal Justice Studies from University of Leicester in UK.   She is a criminologist cum victimologist and has been visiting faculty in a number of law enforcement and security training schools.  Diverse topics including the concept of Multiculturalism and Pluralism with special reference to Islamic teachings, Human Rights, Rights of Minorities in Islam and other topics are also taught by her on various forums as part of her social engineering project. The session focused on the importance of unity in a diverse society and emphasized the role of character building in strengthening harmony. Ms. Humaira highlighted the need to respect people of different religions, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, as these are the teachings of our religion Islam. She encouraged students to adopt tolerance and inclusivity as core values in their personal and professional lives. The session provided practical insights on how embracing diversity can promote peace and mutual understanding. Students actively engaged in the discussion, gaining a deeper appreciation of pluralism as an essential element for a cohesive society.
