Shifa Law Clinic

Shifa Law Clinic is an integral part of the legal curriculum at the Department of Shariah and Law. Supervised by a DSL faculty member, the clinic engages current law students in practical legal work with real clients and cases, providing supervised pro bono assistance to communities while giving students hands-on experience in client interviewing, case preparation, legal research, and courtroom procedure. The clinic develops students’ professional behavior, courtroom preparedness, ethical responsibility, and confidence, exposes them to social justice issues and the role of law in addressing them, and offers training workshops on moots, mock trials, debates, and legal research and writing; all student casework and training activities are carried out under faculty guidance to ensure quality client service and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
