School Health Visit in Nutrition & Metabolism Module

A school health visit was organized by Department of Community and Family Medicine, Shifa College of Medicine in the Nutrition and Metabolism module. The visit was on  October 31 – November 1, 2017 at Mashal Model School, Nurpur Shahan, Islamabad.

A school health visit was organized by Department of Community and Family Medicine, Shifa College of Medicine in the Nutrition and Metabolism module. The visit was on  October 31 – November 1, 2017 at Mashal Model School, Nurpur Shahan, Islamabad.

The school comprises of a total of 850 students in two different campuses. 2nd year MBBS students carried out health assessment of school children (aged 4-16 years) including general physical and oral examination, followed by BMI calculation and its plotting on WHO growth chart. School children were counseled regarding health issues including personal hygiene, hand washing and balanced diet. Mass deworming of 850 school children with Albendazole was carried out under direct supervision of faculty. All sick children were referred to Shifa rotary clinic.

MBBS students generously donated Rs.74, 500 from which school stationary, white board with markers, soaps and medicines (anti-pyretic and anti-histamine) were purchased and handed over to the school administration.
