15th Annual Shifa Scholars Day 2026

Shifa College of Medicine successfully hosted its much awaited 15th Annual Scholars Day on April 28, 2026. This highly anticipated event was organized by the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health (CM & PH) under the lead of Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak and coordination by Ms. Sana Mangrio. The event served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their research work, exchange ideas and engage in academic dialogue with peers and experts.

This auspicious occasion was graced by the presence of the STMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Khan, along with the Dean FHS/Principal Shifa College of Medicine, Prof Dr Mohammed Amir. The program began with the recitation of Holy Quran and Welcome note and opening remarks of the Lead Dr Umme Kulsoom. It was followed by Key note remarks by the respected VC and Dean. After the inauguration, online, poster and oral presentations were conducted simultaneously across three different venues within the college. Esteemed judges from diverse specialties and institutes provided valuable feedback, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the research presented. During the mentorship hi tea, judge’s insights not only enhanced the quality of the discussions but also contributed significantly to the learning experience of the participants.

The day was marked by the enthusiasm of inquisitive minds from all over Pakistan, including 250 participants from 32 medical and dental colleges. The diverse array of presentations included 48 original researches, 39 Systematic reviews/meta-analyses and 24 case reports.

Though every participant is to be commended for their participation, creativity and effort, we are particularly proud of the winners of the year 2026, who were awarded certificates and Cash prizes. For the Original Study category, Muhammad Rabiz Shakil and Muhammad Mutahir from Shifa College of Dentistry secured first position. Rabeea Iqbal and Maham Ashfaq from Army Medical College achieved second position, while Fatima Iqbal and Sara Kanwal from Federal Medical College obtained third position. In other categories, Muhammad Adil Jehangir Khan from Shifa College of Medicine won the Best-Case Report prize and Hafsa Arshad Azam Raja from Rawalpindi Medical University was given the Best Meta-Analysis prize.

Recognizing the outstanding contributions in community engagement, social and philanthropic work, Shifa Star Student Award, was introduced for the first time this year by the dept of CM & PH to highlight the importance of social responsibility alongside academic excellence. It was awarded to Ghufran Saeed Rizvi from year 2 MBBS Shifa College of Medicine.

The 15th Annual Scholars Day was a powerful reflection of the academic rigor, curiosity and dedication demonstrated by undergraduate students. It highlighted not only students’ commitment to learning, but also their passion and creativity to research and innovation.
