The Department of Health Professions Education (DHPE), in collaboration with the READ Society, conducted a career counselling session titled “Creating Your Path: Professional and Academic Distinction for Future Residency Applicants.”on Thursday, 12 February 2026.
The session was delivered by Dr. Abubakar, an alumnus of Shifa College of Medicine (SCM), and focused on building essential career skills, professional development, and strategic preparation for future residency applications. Dr. Abubakar shared practical, experience-based guidance to help students bridge the gap between academic preparation and professional expectations, and provided actionable tips to strengthen their academic profile and CV.
Final year MBBS students attended the session in person, while fourth year MBBS students joined online through the shared link. The session was interactive, and students were encouraged to participate actively and ask questions.
During his visit, Dr. Abubakar also met with the Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Amir, where potential areas of future academic collaboration were discussed.
