YEAR 4 CFM CLERKSHIP STUDENTS’ VISIT TO PAKISTAN BUREAU OF STATISTICS

Students of Year 4, Class of 2020 attending the clerkship of community and family medicine visited Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS)on 24th January, 2019. Students were supervised by Dr Zahid Naeem and Dr Sajida Naseem along with Dr Saima and Dr Tahira. Director Mr Rizwan Bashir, gave information to the students about the working structure and activities of PBS, how the population census 2017 was conducted, what challenges were faced by the government and how they managed to tackle these problems. Furthermore, the students were given brief review about the National Health Accounts and the Contraceptive Prevalence Rate and related statistics. This was followed by visit to different sections of PBS including Data Processing Unit and GIS mapping unit which can be helpful in designing population based research.
