PROFILE SUMMARY

Dr. Saif Ur Rehman Khan is a distinguished Software Engineering academician and researcher with over 22 years of combined experience in academia, research, and industry. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Software Engineering at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), Islamabad. He also leads the NextGen Software Engineering Lab (NGSEL), driving research in emerging software engineering domains. Dr. Khan earned his PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Malaya (Malaysia), supported by the prestigious Bright Sparks Scholarship. He holds both MS and MSc degrees from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University. His research spans software quality assurance, software testing, search-based and model-based testing, empirical software engineering, requirements engineering, and quantum-driven software engineering. With more than 68 publications including 37 journal papers with a cumulative impact factor of ~155, he has established a strong international research footprint. He serves as an HEC-approved PhD supervisor and is currently supervising multiple doctoral and graduate research projects. Dr. Khan has supervised 40 MS theses and over 30 undergraduate final-year projects across diverse domains. His academic contributions include extensive teaching of core and advanced software engineering courses for both undergraduate and graduate programs. He has held major administrative roles, including In-charge BSSE Program, Accreditation Lead, and membership in several academic and research committees. Dr. Khan actively contributes to the global research community as a reviewer for leading journals and a PC or TPC member for prominent conferences such as QRS, EASE, SEET, FIT, and DEXA. His excellence has been recognized through awards such as Outstanding Academic Research, Outstanding Employee Performance, and Top-Cited Article (Wiley) recognition. He is widely regarded for his contributions to curriculum development, departmental leadership, and quality assurance practices in computing programs. Dr. Khan continues to play a pivotal role in advancing software engineering research, education, and professional practice at national and international levels.
