Major (Retd.) Azra Bano is a senior nursing lecturer at the Shifa College of Nursing. She has 26 years of clinical and teaching experience. She teaches students enrolled in BSN and PRN programs. She is an energetic and dedicated intensive care and operation theatre nurse with an outstanding record of providing high quality patient care. Ms. Bano is well versed in performing several tasks simultaneously in emergencies in an efficient and professional manner. With a research and teaching experience spanning eight years and with a master’s degree in healthcare management, Ms. Bano has published six articles in national and international journals. She wants to gain additional knowledge in research clinical base problems and their solutions. Ms. Bano gives top priority to the feedback she gets from her students as they help her understand what her students expect of her and how far she has succeeded in getting knowledge across to her students. Despite her vast experience, she is very receptive to adopting new techniques of teaching. In her opinion, an ideal teacher is one who facilitates transfer of knowledge, should be perfect in clinical practices, and that their students must look up to them as a role model. Ms. Bano also lays emphasis on a teacher’s responsibility of character building of their students. Besides work, she is very much into sports and likes to watch football and badminton matches in her free time. Ms. Bano likes hill stations for vacationing.
