Department of Anatomy

Anatomy is the foundational pillar of medical education at Shifa College of Medicine. Renowned for its scholarship, teaching, and research, the department stands out as a vibrant, dynamic hub for educational innovation. The department is chaired by Professor Dr. Ashraf Hussain and supported by a dedicated faculty comprising one Associate Professor, two Assistant Professors, and nine facilitators.

• Prof. Muhammad Tahir Anatomy Museum: Located on the NCBM campus, this famous museum serves as a premier resource center for human anatomy enthusiasts.
• State-of-the-Art Infrastructure: The department houses a modern Dissection Hall, Bone Bank, Mortuary, Ultrasound machine and Histology Lab—all managed by experienced support staff to provide an optimal learning environment.
• Curricular Leadership: The faculty acted as the vanguard when the college transitioned to a system-based integrated spiral curriculum in 2007.
• Advanced Research & Programs: Research areas span biomechanics, neuroscience, reproductive sciences, cell biology, aging, wound healing, medical education, bioethics, and health. The department also offers an HEC-approved Ph.D. program in Anatomy.
• Public Engagement: Active outreach initiatives ranging from school visits to collaborative art projects.
