Message from the Director, QEC – STMU

At Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU), we envision the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) as a vibrant and dynamic unit, dedicated to fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Our commitment is to establish strong quality assurance mechanisms that align with both national and international standards, positioning STMU as a leading institution in higher education quality assurance.

Under the esteemed leadership of our honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan, QEC is actively working towards enhancing teaching, research, and institutional governance, ensuring that our students receive the highest quality education and are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.

Our goal is to secure a distinguished place in national and global quality assurance frameworks by promoting transparency, accountability, and active engagement with all stakeholders. Through collaborative efforts, continuous feedback, and innovative assessment techniques, we aim to strengthen STMU’s academic programs and research endeavors, reinforcing our commitment to excellence and global competitiveness.

Together, we strive to make QEC at STMU a benchmark for quality assurance, setting new standards in higher education and healthcare education at both national and international levels.

Objectives

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at STMU is dedicated to implementing quality assurance procedures and fostering continuous improvement at the institutional level. Through a quality-focused approach, QEC is committed to:

Developing and promoting quality-centric practices to enhance institutional effectiveness.
Strengthening internal quality assurance processes through self-assessment in line with HEC criteria.
Supporting academic and non-academic departments in meeting the standards of statutory bodies and international higher education benchmarks.
Ensuring academic excellence by systematically assessing learning outcomes and aligning them with the university’s vision and mission.
Establishing quality enhancement mechanisms to drive competitive excellence among all stakeholders.
Collecting feedback from students, faculty, graduates, and employers at regular intervals and implementing improvements based on evaluations.
Progressing toward full accreditation for all programs from relevant authorities.

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU) is dedicated to upholding and advancing educational standards in alignment with the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) guidelines. With the introduction of the Pakistan Precepts, Standards, and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PSG-2023), the QEC is poised to integrate these new directives into its existing framework.

PSG-2023 represents a significant shift in quality assurance, emphasizing 16 Institutional Quality Standards that encompass areas such as Academic Quality and Curricula, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Academia-Industry and External Linkages, Technology Infrastructure and Enhancement, Corporate Governance, Audit & Finance, Community Service & Engagement, and Graduate Quality and Employability.

In response to PSG-2023, the QEC at STMU will focus on:

Academic Quality and Curricula: Ensuring that curricula are not only rigorous but also aligned with current industry standards and societal needs.
Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship: Promoting a culture that encourages research initiatives, innovative projects, and entrepreneurial activities among faculty and students.
Academia-Industry and External Linkages: Strengthening partnerships with industry and other external entities to enhance practical learning experiences and job placement opportunities for graduates.
Technology Infrastructure and Enhancement: Investing in modern technological tools and platforms to support effective teaching, learning, and administrative processes.
Corporate Governance, Audit & Finance: Implementing transparent governance structures and robust financial auditing practices to ensure accountability.
Community Service & Engagement: Encouraging initiatives that foster community involvement and social responsibility among students and staff.
Graduate Quality and Employability: Focusing on producing graduates who are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the job market.
