This specialty is one of the most important branches of dentistry as it deals with restoration of function and aesthetics by replacement of missing teeth and full mouth rehabilitation. It also encompasses the treatment of lost maxillofacial structures as well as management of patients with implant prosthesis. An understanding of the choice of material and technique is crucial in delivering a high standard of prosthetic care. It has four branches which include removable prosthodontics, fixed prosthodontics, implant prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthodontics. The department has a clinical section and prosthetic as well as ceramic laboratory. The department is responsible for both preclinical and clinical instruction of dental students.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The faculty of Prosthodontics at Shifa College of Dentistry aims to guide the students in learning the fundamental theory and practice of Prosthodontics. Students are trained to become skilled and competent clinicians, who can utilize evidence based safe techniques, to fulfill the basic prosthodontics needs of the society. The faculty aspires to instill lifelong learning capabilities in the students, by encouraging self-learning and participation in continued dental education and research activities.
