An educational development seminar titled “Competency based Medical Education: Insights and Challenges ” was held on Saturday, July 30, 2022. The objectives of the seminar were to:
- Understand the basic components of competency based medical education.
- Align the competencies and milestones to the desired learning trajectory and select an appropriate assessment method.
The session was facilitated by:
- Dr. Sehar Ashraf- Professor of Psychiatry—SCM
- Dr Naheed Gul – Associate Professor, Medicine
- Dr.Tehzeeb Zahra- Associate Professor, Medicine
- Dr. Nadia Saeed -Assistant Professor , Medicine
- D r Rahila Aamir – Assistant professor, Medicine
Dr Sehar Ashraf briefed the participants about competency based medical education(CBME) and entrustable professional activities(EPAs) and the various stages a learner goes through in their medical training from a novice to an expert. Her presentation was followed by a group activity in which the participants were given different scenarios and they had to map various competencies to their relevant milestones. There was a group discussion in the end followed by address by Vice Chancellor and dua by Dean Faculty Health Sciences.
