Accreditations (Regulators)

Accreditation

Accreditation, a process of validation; helps determine maintenance of suitable standards of quality of educational programs being offered at an institution/ university. The accreditation is normally carried out on a Peer Review basis by the respective Accreditation Council. This competent body (respective accreditation council) establishes a Peer Review Board/ Team comprised of faculty members from various accredited colleges & universities that manages the peer review and accreditation process consistent with the policies and procedures established by the accreditation council. This process of evaluation by a Peer Review Board/ Team could either be for the accreditation of a potential new school/ college or for the renewal of previously accredited schools/ colleges.

Why Accreditation by respective Council/ Regulators

Accreditation is important because it helps students determine acceptable institution for enrollment on the basis of its meeting or exceeding minimum standards of quality as almost all employers often require evidence that the prospective applicants have earned degree from an accredited school or program. Accreditation assists institutions in determining acceptability of transfer credits too. Accreditation Councils of Pakistan visit Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University time to time for accreditation/ reaccreditation of academic programs being offered at STMU. And, academic programs offered at STMU are accredited with respective accreditation bodies like:

Shifa College of Medicine [MBBS]

The Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program offered at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University at its constituent unit, Shifa College of Medicine is duly accredited by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC).

Shifa College of Medicine is one of the leading institutions in the country, contributing to the cause of the nation. Nursing programs offered at Shifa College of Nursing (SCN) are duly accredited by Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) ensuring that nursing education programs of SCN meet the educational standards of nursing.

At SCN, nursing students are educated to deliver patients’ care; meeting and exceeding higher standards in health care. The degree program offered at SCN are structured as pathways to careers in clinical practice, NSG education in healthcare organizations and research. Shifa College of Pharmaceutical Sciences [Pharm. D]

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.)

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program offered at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU) through Shifa College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SCPS) has been accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP). The PCP concerning itself with the quality assurance and quality enhancement, looked at curriculum, faculty, assessment system, lab facilities, clinical/ attachment facilities, and overall teaching & learning environment. The PCP using both quantitative and qualitative parameters found quality of Pharm. D. program being offered at SCPS beyond minimum requirements/ expectations of different accreditation standards and encouraged the management for continued improvement thereof.

SCPS through the pursuit of excellence in an ethical environment is committed to providing its students with academically rigorous and well-rounded education.
