
Professor Sagheer Ahmad, Academic Advisor SCPS and HoD Basic Medical Sciences delivered a talk at ‘Research Seminar Series’ organized by Shifa College of Medicine. The title of his talk was “Pharmacogenetics of cytochrome P450 in Pakistani population; Prevalence of polymorphisms in important genes and their implications”. In addition to highlighting the implications of these polymorphisms for the adverse effects and/or efficacy of drugs metabolized by these enzymes in the Pakistani population, the role of pharmacogenetic testing in identifying the appropriate medicine for the patient was discussed at length.
