The department of Ophthalmology was setup by the visionary Dr. Aslam Malik. Dr. Aslam’s, work in the field of inheritance of Retinitis Pigmentosa in Pakistani families is well acknowledged all over Pakistan.
The department offers clinical rotation program for Year III and Year IV students. It pioneered a truly integrated, clinically oriented, basic medical sciences content delivery. The department lead the way in development of study guides, both for students and facilitators.
The department also offers health care for patients of Shifa Foundation Community Health Center. The department offers latest technique in cataract surgery in form of phacoemulsification, Retinal Surgery, Strabismus and Glaucoma Surgery at subsidized rates.
