A Resplendent Tribute on the occasion of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day

Amidst the crisp morning breeze and the flutter of the green and white, Shifa College of Medicine stood adorned, a microcosm of the nation’s pride and progress, as it reverently celebrated Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day. The flag raising ceremony, a symphony of patriotism and academic excellence, unfolded with a profound resonance, echoing the journey of a nation.

The ceremony opened with a moment of serenity, as Dr. Sameer Shahid from the department of Community Medicine, took center stage. With a heart full of reverence, he called upon Saad Malik and Abdul Tawab, both esteemed third-year students, to present recitation of the Holy Quran. The mellifluous verses filled the air, creating a sense of unity and devotion among the attendees, as their voices rose and fell in a rhythm that spoke of faith and fortitude.

As the Quranic recitation concluded, the stage gracefully transitioned to Dr. Sajida Naseem, the revered Head of the Department of Community Medicine. She addressed the gathering, casting a spotlight on Shifa College of Medicine’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its pivotal role in nurturing the nation’s betterment. Her words resonated with wisdom, underlining the importance of producing not just skilled healthcare professionals, but compassionate and empathetic individuals who serve as catalysts for positive change in our society. Following her address, the stage welcomed two esteemed figures who have played pivotal role in Shifa’s journey: the Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal and the Dean Health Sciences & Principal Prof.  Dr. Mohammed Amir of Shifa College of Medicine. Their words echoed the sentiments of the institution, emphasizing the need to channel education towards the holistic advancement of the country, in line with the principles that the nation’s independence was built upon. Their address illuminated the path forward, where academic brilliance merges seamlessly with a sense of duty towards the nation. They outlined how Shifa College of Medicine’s journey of 25 years parallels the nation’s road to independence, both marked by dedication, resilience, and a shared dream of prosperity.

The platform was then gracefully taken by Areej Faisal, a distinguished fourth-year student. With enthusiasm and passion, Areej shared her thoughtful insights on this momentous occasion, underlining the indomitable spirit that has brought Shifa to this point and the aspirations that continue to propel it forward.

As the ceremony reached its crescendo, the entire assembly, hands on hearts, joined in a fervent chant that reverberated through the campus: “Pakistan Zindabad!” The words encapsulated the essence of the gathering – a celebration of a nation’s freedom, a nod to an institution’s remarkable journey, and a pledge to carry forward the torch of excellence, service, and unity.

The flag raising ceremony at Shifa College of Medicine, weaving together the threads of history, education, and patriotism, concluded as a testament to the indelible bond between a nation and its institutions. The echoes of this moment would continue to resonate, serving as a reminder that with dedication, wisdom, and a shared vision, the journey of progress shall march forward, guided by the principles that have shaped Pakistan.
