SCM Annual Tree Plantation Drive 2025

Shifa Annual Tree Plantation Drive was held on Friday, 8th August 2025. This year’s drive carried special significance, not only was it aligned with the National Clean and Green Pakistan Program, but it was also dedicated to showing solidarity with the courageous people of Palestine and Gaza. The event was organized by the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health under the lead of Dr. Umme Kulsoom Khattak, with invaluable support from Ms. Sana Mangrio and the dedicated team of CDA gardeners and landscapers. The event was graced by Vice Chancellor STMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan and Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Mohammed Amir. It was made truly memorable by the presence and participation of medical students from Gaza. A total of 80 plants and saplings including Green and Black Olive trees, Cassia Nodosa, and Lagerstroemia were planted by Shifa students, students from IUG-Gaza, faculty members and distinguished guests. Plantation took place at two locations: the CDA-managed park in I-8 (opposite Edhi Homes) and the ground of Shifa College of Medicine. The Gaza students planted Olive trees in SCM ground leaving a historic footprint to honor their presence. This initiative not only advanced environmental sustainability but also stood as a powerful symbol of hope, resilience and solidarity with Palestine. It was a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of Gaza and a testament to our unwavering dedication to building a more sustainable and compassionate future of Pakistan.
